May 30 2007On May 30 on the 22nd floor of Montblanc elite residential complex have gathered about fifty representatives of the city media. Stroimontage corporation has organized a press conference of high-rise construction: “Business interests and social opinion: opposition or collaboration?”
The heightened interest towards the object from correspondents of business newspapers, magazines and specialized publications dedicated to construction and real estate is easy to explain: there was an official announcement made of beginning of the third section of the house.
The news is quite sensational – not long ago the city community was still intensely discussing the feasibility and appropriateness of building the Montblanc in the center of St. Petersburg. The passions have subsided only after a thorough development of the project. And here comes the new phase! This time the members of the Urban Planning Council were not only opposed to expanding Montblanc, but supported it by all means: after the third section is built, the object would appear lower, visually. “The wide things always appear lower than the narrow ones. This law of perception is true as well in high-rise construction”, – stressed Svyatoslav Gaykovich, well-known St. Petersburg architect, and a member of the Urban Planning Council, participating in the conference.
Arthur Kirilenko, the president of Stroimontage corporation has once again pointed out to the journalists the uniqueness of Montblanc: certainly it is to remain the only resiedential complex of its kind in the center of St. Petersburg.
